The challenge
A medical device manufacturer needed to inspect sealed pouches for foreign matter at full production speed. Manual inspection was inconsistent and could not meet the throughput demands of the line. Any contaminated product reaching the customer posed a serious compliance and safety risk.
Our solution
We designed a vision system using high-resolution area scan cameras with specialist backlighting to detect foreign particles inside sealed pouches. The system was fully integrated with the packaging machine's PLC for automatic rejection of non-conforming product, eliminating the need for operator intervention.
